Being an Assistant Editor
Having worked as an editor on many projects, I understand how important it is to have support from someone that you can trust and rely on.
I like to keep several steps ahead, anticipating the needs of the editor, whether it's making sure they have everything they need before they need it or keeping abreast of any pitfalls that may appear down the road. I often use automation where I can using the like of Python and REGEX to manipulate XML and EDL data for various purposes.
With a background in I.T., I'm technically minded and have worked in organisations where data integrity is critical which lends itself to creating and supporting a robust post production pipeline.
Before becoming freelance I worked within several production houses where it was important to be multi-skilled, this has left me with experience in many disciplines, including, colour grading, audio mixing, motion graphics and visual effects editing.
Throughout my career (and life) I’ve very much been an autodidact. I’m very quick at picking up new technical information, concepts, techniques and ideas and I do my very best to stay up to date with the multitude of software, hardware, formats and codecs for both post-production and production.
